From June 21 to 27, the 78th annual American Diabetes Conference was held in Orlando, USA. The conference is the world's top diabetes research conference, covering clinical research, basic science, education and policies. Prof. Mei Zhang leading a team attended to the conference there.
This congress has presented the important results of numerous clinical and basic research on diabetes in recent years, ranging from environmental factors that may affect young people with type 1 diabetes to advanced macrovascular complications in the elderly. During the conference, Prof. Mei Zhang delivered an oral speech named “Decrease in proportion of CD24hiCD38hi B cells and impairment of their regulatory capacity in type 1 diabetes”, which was done by Dr. Yueshu Wang and Prof. Mei Zhang. For other participants from our hospital, Dr. Yao Qin delivered the poster presentation entitled Effect of thiazolidinediones on renal outcomes in diabetic patients with microalbuminuria or macroalbuminuria: A systematic review and meta-analysis. By participating in such high-level academic conferences, the achievements of the diabetic studies in our Endocrinology Department were highlighted and presented in the conference, which will promote our hospital to integrate further with the world-wide field of diabetes research.
