General Surgery


Overview

The General Surgery Department of Jiangsu Province Hospital was founded in 1936. After decades of effort, it is now one of the largest departments of Jiangsu Province Hospital with highest reputation among level III hospitals in Jiangsu.

The department currently employs 324 professionals, among which 47 have senior professional titles, 37 Associate Senior Physician titles,13 are doctoral supervisors and 39 are master tutors.


Department Director

Dr. Xu is working as Director of General Surgery Department and the chief of the Gastric Surgery, Jiangsu Province Hospital. He is the member of Surgery Branch, Chinese Medical Association; the member of Gastrointestinal Surgery Group, Surgery Branch, Chinese Medical Association; the vice chairman of Upper Digestive Tract Surgeon Committee,Surgeon Branch, Chinese Medical Doctor Association; the vice Chairman of Digestive Tract Tumor Committee, Chinese Research Hospital  Association and the chairman Designate, Surgery Branch, Jiangsu Medical Association.

Dr. Xu obtained his doctoral degree in surgery from Nanjing Medical University in 2001, further studied as Visiting Scholar in Saint Louis University and Washington University, USA in 2009 for 3 months.

Dr. Xu completed 5 National Nature Science Foundations, and 12 national and provincial scientific research projects.Dr. Xu published more than 100 papers in national and international academic journals as first or corresponding author. Dr. Xu received a second and a third prize of the Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award, 1 first price of Jiangsu provincial government science and technology progress award, 1 first price and 1 second price of Jiangsu Province Science and Technology Progress Award, 1 first prize of Jiangsu medical science and technology progress, 1 second price of Jiangsu medical new technology award.

Dr. Xu is specialized in the standardized treatment of gastric cancer and the minimally invasive treatment. He also focused in scientific and clinical studies of gastric cancer.

We have the most advanced hybrid operation room in the world, and can offer the integrated solutions about complicated aortic arch pathologies and thoracoabdominal aortic pathologies used innovative technique and whole endovascular technique, including hybrid technique, chimney technique, single branched engraft technique and fenestrated engraft technique.

8. Thyroid Surgery

The thyroid surgery department has a professional multidisciplinary team that provides standardized assessments and treatments of thyroid nodules, thyroid cancer and parathyroid disease. Recently, our team offers fine-needle aspiration, recurrent laryngeal nerve monitoring, negative development of parathyroid glands and standardized video-assisted neck dissection to improve the safety of operation and the postoperative quality of life. Meanwhile, our team offers the radiofrequency ablation as an alternative treatment for benign thyroid nodules. Besides, our team offers professional health education and postoperative rehabilitation guidance to help all patients.

9. Hernia And Abdominal Wall Surgery.
